Etchell ZamboniLength (LOA): 30 ft 6 in CAN 440 is a remarkable boat. Great race history as well as an incredible race record for an "old boat". We turned a lot of heads finishing 10th at the 2001 North Americans with a boat that was built in 1978. Going into the last race we were tied for fifth with a lot of pros with new boats on our heels. A bad decision on the second run cost us 4 places in the regatta but we decided to go for broke, take a gamble and try to move up to fourth, but left was not the side to be on. The boat has been completely faired and upgraded throughout her life. She is very fast. Race one we started late, very late. I thought I had one more minute to go, my bad. By sailing smart and clean we moved through the fleet gaining boats at every mark to finish 7th. Race three we broke the outhaul and rounded the first mark in 39th. We were able to come back to 27th knowing this was our throw out.
